ASSESSMENT OF CHINA'S MARKET FOR green building materials

A GCiS Limited Publication Study Published In August, 2009

China's construction sector continues to boom, spreading from the prosperous East coast into Central and Western regions. A multi-billion U.S. dollar market for green building materials (defined as energy-efficient and using renewable energy resources) has previously grown well in excess of GDP but is now slowing along with the rest of the economy. Many major suppliers are competing in the market and several domestic companies can be considered emerging market leaders. This increasing competitive intensity comes amidst lower growth and a shift in opportunities to areas of the country with limited exposure to green building standards.
